San Jose Man Dies from Injuries After Brutal Light Rail Attack

San Jose, CA — A 42-year-old San Jose man has died from injuries sustained in a brutal attack at the Gish VTA Light Rail Station. The man, who was initially treated for critical head trauma, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night, according to Santa Clara County officials.

The Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s office has not yet released the victim’s identity or further details about the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Suspect Arrested in Connection to Assault

Brandon Fryshaw, 23, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail in connection with the incident. Law enforcement officials say Fryshaw was arrested shortly after the attack, which occurred at the Gish VTA Light Rail Station.

“Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide,” officials confirmed in a statement.

Authorities are also looking into whether Fryshaw is connected to another assault against an unhoused person at the Saint James VTA Light Rail Station in late September.

Investigating a Possible Pattern of Attacks

Detectives are now exploring whether the two assaults are linked, as both incidents occurred within a short time frame and in close proximity to one another.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office has requested that anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information related to the investigation contact their office.

“We are asking anyone who witnessed the assault or has information to please call our office,” said a law enforcement spokesperson.

Community Impact and Law Enforcement Response

The fatal attack has sent shockwaves through the San Jose community, raising concerns about safety at public transportation stations. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.

“We encourage everyone to stay alert and report anything unusual to help ensure the safety of all residents,” said a Santa Clara County spokesperson.
