Northeast Wisconsin — A high-speed pursuit across multiple counties in northeast Wisconsin ended dramatically early Thursday morning when the suspect crashed into Lake Winnebago and was later taken into custody.
According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, the chase began around 2 a.m. on October 9, 2025, after Green Bay Police alerted deputies about a suspect wanted on multiple felony bail-jumping and fleeing charges. The individual was also reportedly armed with a machete and a baseball bat and was on electronic monitoring through Sheboygan County.
The Chase Begins
The pursuit began when a Chilton Police officer spotted the suspect’s vehicle traveling south on Highway 57. The driver refused to stop, prompting a chase that quickly stretched across several counties. The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, Kiel Police Department, and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office all joined in the high-speed pursuit.
At one point, the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway in Fond du Lac County, hitting a tree and damaging a yard. Despite the damage, the driver continued fleeing before reentering Calumet County.
A Dramatic End to the Pursuit
The chase came to an end when the suspect drove off the end of Gladwater Beach Road and plunged into Lake Winnebago, more than 20 miles from where the pursuit began.
“The suspect initially refused to surrender and remained inside the partially submerged vehicle, prompting authorities to deploy a drone to monitor the scene,” said the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
Negotiation and Surrender
After a tense standoff, negotiators successfully de-escalated the situation, and the suspect surrendered peacefully. Authorities recovered multiple bladed weapons and a baseball bat from the vehicle.
Arrest and Charges
The individual was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Calumet County Jail. The suspect is facing charges of fleeing/eluding and felony bail-jumping.
The dramatic end to the pursuit marks another example of the increasing danger posed by suspects attempting to evade law enforcement.
