Fort Worth, TX — Two people were killed after a small plane crashed into several parked semi-trucks near Fort Worth, sparking a large fire that drew emergency responders from across the region.

Officials reported that the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time in a parking lot near Hicks Airfield, destroying vehicles and a commercial building in the area.

Firefighters Respond to Intense Blaze

The Fort Worth Fire Department quickly responded to the scene, where they found two deceased individuals and a raging fire consuming multiple vehicles and structures. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 35 minutes, according to a department news release.

“We thought we were responding to two separate incidents,” said Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Craig Trojacek. “Later on, we realized it was all part of the same one.”

Published images from the site showed rolling flames and thick black smoke, highlighting the intensity of the fire.

Eyewitness Account

Gregory Delano, a 20-year-old witness, was at a nearby pool hall when the crash occurred. He told the Dallas News:

“I ran to the crash site and encountered a giant ball of fire.”

Delano said the scene was chaotic, with first responders racing to contain the flames and prevent further damage to nearby structures.

Investigation Underway

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the crash, which involved a Beech King Air C90, a twin-engine aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is also participating in the inquiry to determine the cause of the accident.

According to NewsNationNow, authorities are reviewing flight records, maintenance logs, and eyewitness statements to understand what led to the devastating incident.

“Emergency crews responded swiftly, but unfortunately two lives were lost in this tragic accident,” the fire department noted in its statement.

Community and Safety Response

The crash prompted fire and emergency crews from surrounding areas to converge on the scene to assist with fire suppression and recovery. Officials are advising residents near Hicks Airfield to remain clear of the area while investigators complete their work.

Authorities are expected to release further details as the investigation progresses, including identities of the victims and potential safety recommendations for small aircraft operations in the region.
