Awaiting Joy, Met with Tragedy: 19-Year-Old Charged in Death of Father-to-Be

Birmingham (UBM)- In connection with the shooting death of a 26-year-old man in southwest Birmingham in September, a suspect has been charged.

Deionya Saki Harley, who is 19 years old, has been charged with capital murder for the shooting death of Isaiah Tyson Anthony.

Anthony was discovered unresponsive shortly after 5 p.m. on September 18, 2024, in the 1700 block of Laurel Avenue S.W. His relatives stated that he was anticipating the arrival of his first child in the months to come.

The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service declared him dead at the spot.

At the time, the police stated that the initial investigation indicated that the victim had been involved in a verbal argument with an unidentified suspect before to the shootings that resulted in the victim’s death.

By the time the officers arrived at the location, the subject had already fled.

The authorities have not revealed the reason for the charge being a capital crime or the reasoning behind it.

Harley, who is from Birmingham, has been in the Jefferson County Jail since February 2nd for accusations of attempted murder and first-degree robbery, which are not related to this case.

He is being detained without the option of bail.
