HOUSTON (UBM)- The Houston Police are looking into whether a gunshot that occurred between a father and son on the southeast side of town was an act of self-defense. The incident resulted in the death of one of the individuals involved.
According to the police, the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on the 500 block of Edgebrook Drive.
According to Lt. Larry Crowson, officers entered the house and discovered a guy who had died from at least one gunshot wound.
While cops were conducting their investigation, a man who is thought to be approximately 30 years old entered the scene and turned himself in to the police.
According to Crowson, the man informed the police that the victim was his father and that they had been arguing when the father pulled out an axe. The man said that he shot his father because he was afraid for his life.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses, including the grandmother of the suspect, who was reportedly in the residence at the time of the incident.
After the investigation is over, the police will send it to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether or not they will accept charges or send it to a grand jury as a case of self-defense.
