‘So Many Memories Lost’: Well-Known NH Restaurant Damaged in Overnight Blaze

A fire overnight in Windham, New Hampshire, did a lot of damage to a well-known restaurant in the area.

Someone called to report a fire at The Windham Restaurant on Range Road just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. The diner is in an old house built in 1812 that is one of the most important historical sites in the town. It has been said for a long time that the house is haunted.

As soon as 911 was called to report the fire, workers at the McDonald’s across the street also called to say that their store was also on fire.

Firefighters got to the scene just after 1 a.m. and said there was heavy fire in the back of the building. They called for help from nearby Salem, Derry, Londonderry, and Pelham. Not long after that, firemen from Nashua, Hampstead, and Hudson were also called in. Atkinson and Methuen, Massachusetts, firefighters also helped out.

The kitchen, including the walk-in freezer, was where most of the fire was. The outside of the building was also badly damaged by the fire.

They were able to stop the fire from spreading to the main part of the building, which included the recently remodelled recreation area. However, smoke and some water damage hit most of the house.

There were no people in the building when the fire broke out, and no one was hurt.

The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office was called and will be looking into where the fire came from and what caused it.
