Package Drop-Off by Drone? Kaufman Gears Up for High-Tech Delivery

This is KAUFMAN, Texas. The Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area is extending its drone delivery services, and Kaufman is scheduled to join the ranks of communities such as Garland, Frisco, and Denton later this year. Zipline, the largest autonomous delivery system in the world, will begin operations from the Walmart located at 300 Kings Fort Parkway. According to the company, it will transport hundreds of items to inhabitants of the surrounding area.

In a news release issued by the City of Kaufman, it was said that the planes operated by Zipline, which are noted for being quieter than passing cars, are designed with safety and privacy objectives in mind. A private ranch located on the north side of the city will serve as the location for the company’s calibration and validation flights over the following few weeks, which will be carried out in preparation for the launch. The extensive safety standards that Zipline has in place will be followed during these activities, which will take place during business hours.

The City of Kaufman has voiced its delight regarding the new service, underlining the fact that it has the potential to lessen the amount of traffic congestion and enable speedier access to groceries, meals, and other vital products. It is especially helpful for those who are elderly, those who have limited mobility, or anyone else who is trying to save time to consider using this service.

The local companies and aviators have been actively engaged with Zipline in order to notify them of the future activities and ensure that they are in conformity with the regulations set forth by the FAA. If residents have any inquiries regarding the service, they can get in touch with Zipline directly at DFW@flyzipline.com or call Kaufman Public Works at 972-962-8007.
