Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is telling illegal immigrants in the U.S. that they need to leave the country right away or face major consequences, such as losing their chance to be free and live the American dream.
Noem talked about her latest project on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Tuesday night. She announced an illegal alien registry that required fingerprinting.
The secretary said that DHS will enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act. This law was passed in 1952 and gives the government many ways to find illegal immigrants and cause them to leave the U.S. on their own.
DHS said that the tools include possible jail time for migrants who refuse to leave the U.S., don’t register with the federal government and get fingerprinted, or don’t let the federal government know when their home changes.
People who are in the U.S. illegally and don’t leave will be charged with a crime and face a “significant penalty,” DHS said.
But foreigners who don’t sign up with the federal government could get fined, jailed, or both.
“For decades, this law has been ignored – not anymore,” DHS stated.
There is a push by Noem and DHS to get illegal aliens to believe that turning themselves in is safer for everyone, including police.
“Those who are in our country illegally have a clear message from President Trump and Secretary Noem: leave now.” Traci McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for DHS, said, “If you leave now, you might have the chance to come back and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream.” “The Trump administration will follow all of our immigration laws. We will not pick and choose which ones to follow.” It is important for the safety of our country and all Americans that we know who is in it.
The DHS tells people who are in the U.S. illegally to go to the website for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. There, they can find information on how to register with the federal government.
Noem’s push comes more than a week after she sent a harsh message to people trying to enter the U.S. illegally on behalf of President Trump.
“Let me tell the world something from President Trump.” “Don’t even think about coming to the United States illegally,” she told them. “Let me make this clear. We will find you if you break our rules when you come to our country. Criminals are not allowed in the United States. Our borders have been wide open for too long because of bad leadership, letting drugs, people trafficking, and violent criminals into our neighborhoods. “Those times are over now.”
Noem is the fourth member of Trump’s administration to get approval from the Senate. He is in charge of the department at a time when the new administration’s top goals are to secure the border and stop illegal immigration.
To secure the border, the government has done a number of things, such as sending in the military, starting to build the wall again, and ending parole programs that were in place during the Biden administration.
