Following her admission that she had shot a man in the head with his gun after he became agitated because their son, who was eight years old at the time, had defecated in his pants, a lady from Florida was instantly sentenced to 25 years in jail.
On Tuesday, Laurie Adams, who is 39 years old, was informed of her destiny after she entered a guilty plea to the charge of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm in connection with the shooting death of Adel Tawfeek, who was 51 years old.
In accordance with the affidavit, the violent incident took place on June 5th. A shooting call was received at an apartment located in the 400 block of Sheoah Boulevard in Winter Springs, which is located north of Orlando. The police arrived to the unit. The communications system notified the officers that the caller had stated that she had shot someone in the head as they were on their way to the scene.
As soon as the cops entered the residence, they discovered Tawfeek seated on the back porch with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. He passed away in a medical facility.
Tawfeek grew agitated when he realized that their son, who has autism and is eight years old, “had pooped his pants,” according to Adams, who told the police that everything started.
She told the police that he started yelling at the youngster and his mother, as stated in the affidavit on the incident.
She informed investigators that when she had finished cleaning up their son, she put him to bed, and then Tawfeek started yelling at her and pushing her against a wall. This information was included in the arrest report by the police.
Thereafter, according to the affidavit, he went and got a beer and sat down on the back porch.
According to the arrest report, Adams waited around fifteen minutes to cool down before going to Tawfeek’s bedroom closet, grabbing his revolver, and loading it when he finally did so.
There was a statement in the record that stated, “She walked out to the living room and observed Adel Tawfeek smoking on the porch.” “After that, Laurie walked out towards the porch, where she pulled the trigger, resulting in the accidental shooting of Adel Tawfeek in the head.”
According to the affidavit, Adams also disclosed to the investigators that she had sent a text message to her mother several days prior to the shooting, in which she begged that she take responsibility for her son “in the event that anything were to occur.”
