On Tuesday, a young man entered a guilty plea for the murder of his romantic rival with a sword, which he had carried out with the assistance of two other pals. A sentence of forty years in jail was handed down to Andre Clements, who is twenty years old, for the crimes of murder, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder, as reported by NBC Miami.
In court, he expressed his regret and stated that he would take his own life in order to bring Dwight “DJ” Grant back. On the other hand, according to the outlet, a friend of Grant’s family stated that they were merely words and did not do anything to alleviate the sorrow that they were experiencing.
According to the testimony that was presented in court, Madelyn Emile, Dwight’s mother, stated, “I will never walk my son down the aisle.” It is impossible for him to come and say anything to me because he is not present. He is wallowing in his power. All of the wonderful things that my son accomplished, the memories will be with me forever.
Two young women were brought down by Clements, who was only 17 years old at the time of the crime. When they assisted him in the attack that ultimately proved fatal, Christie Parisien and Jaslyn Smith were, respectively, 17 and 16 years old. Clements and Smith confronted Grant after Parisien assisted in luring him down a stairwell where they were waiting for him. He died as a result of Clements’s attack.
Both, on the other hand, stated to the authorities on the video of their interrogation that they did not anticipate a murder.
In a statement to the police on October 23, 2021, Parisien stated, “I didn’t think he meant, like, actual murder.”
“Andre told me that somebody had pissed him off, or somebody that was messing with somebody else’s girl or something — it had to do with some kind of chick — and that he was upset and that he needed some backup for a fight,” she told the police in a separate statement on October 19, 2021, with her mother waiting by her side. He has informed me that it was merely a fight.
A sentence of 25 years in jail was handed down to each of them after they entered guilty pleas to charges of murder in the second degree, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder.
