‘Human Foot Was Sticking Out’: Mom Accused of Murdering Son, Burying Him in Backyard, and Abandoning Other in a Filthy Car

A woman, 41 years old, is currently in jail, waiting to be sent to Michigan. She is accused of killing her 9-year-old son and burying him in a shallow grave. Afterward, she allegedly fled the state with her other kid.

On January 6, the investigation started when the police in Detroit were called to a house located in the 19700 block of Woodingham. The police were called when a landlord found a shallow burial in the backyard.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy told reporters, “When the police arrived, they were shown the grave where a human foot was sticking out of the ground.”

She stated that his hands and feet were also tied up.

The youngster was recognized by the police as Zamar King III, who is nine years old. On October 24, detectives later discovered that his mother, Brandee Katrice Pierce, 41, was the one who killed him. According to the police, the medical examiner in Michigan determined that the youngster died as a result of being smothered and having their neck compressed. Pierce departed the Mitten State about two weeks after the murder and proceeded to Georgia, where she was arrested on unrelated charges on December 20.

A police report from the December arrest, which was obtained by the Detroit Free Press, stated that a worried resident called the police in Brookhaven, a suburb of Atlanta, after witnessing a 3-year-old kid alone in a car. The police arrived and found the youngster, who was cold to the touch (the temperature was in the 40s that day) but otherwise uninjured. According to the complaint, officers discovered that the backseat had human feces and a deflated air mattress. Pierce stated that she and the boy had been living in the car and that she had donated plasma in order to earn money. She was charged with second-degree child cruelty and the boy was put into foster care.

According to the Detroit police, Pierce was released from jail on bond, but she was arrested by Georgia officials on January 10 in connection with the murder investigation. She is facing charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, first-degree child abuse, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of a person. Pierce is currently being held at the Cobb County Jail, where he is waiting to be sent back to Michigan.

Worthy did not want to guess what the possible reason could be. She stated that the case was shocking.

In a news release, she stated, “I have been a prosecutor for a long time, and I often say that I have seen it all.” “The atrocities of this child abuse case are in direct contradiction to that. The defendant’s supposed actions are some of the most heartless I have ever witnessed, and I hope to never see anything like them again.
