Over the past few days, snow plow drivers in Kansas City have been exceptionally busy, to the point where a local company had to hire additional assistance from another state in order to keep up with the demand.
There were eight drivers who made the journey from a little town located east of Madison to Kansas City. Paul Zervopoulos was one of the drivers. Contributing to the removal of snow from grocery stores and other essential facilities was the objective of their mission.
The beginning of everything started a few weeks ago..
“We got a call Thursday night around 5 p.m. asking, ‘What are you doing this weekend?’ My response was, ‘Why?'” In response, I said, “Why?” Recalling the day he made the decision to set off on the adventure, Zervopoulos recalled.
The call was made as a consequence of the significant snowstorm that was in the process of moving closer to the Kansas City region.
“I said, ‘Absolutely.'”
For a considerable amount of time, we had to go through the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas. In spite of the fact that the journey was supposed to take seven hours, it ended up lasting twelve.
“We knew what we were driving into. You could see the clouds and everything,” Zervopoulos stated. “Since we left, I’ve put on about 3,200 miles.”
The Olathe hotel where the drivers were staying was fortunate.
“We have a big parking lot, and cars were stuck in there. So, we were calling people left and right,” La Quinta Inn Manager Ash Desai stated.
His guests provided the remedy after numerous irate calls.
“I caught one of them and said, ‘Hey, before you guys go, would you help me out and just do a quick scoop?'”
Free lodging was provided to the group in exchange for their assistance in cleaning the parking lot of the hotel.
Also, they assisted drivers of snowploughs in the local area.

“We were at locations that required us to be there for small triggers, like 1 inch. So, once 1 inch accumulates, it has to be cleaned. Without them coming in, those locations would not have been manageable,” Austin Buso, owner and operator of AB Lawn Care and Snow Removal stated.
Without the additional assistance, he claims it would have been difficult to be as effective as they were.
“No way. There’s no way,” Buso stated.

They intend to replicate this collaboration in order to move mountains of snow.
“We’re willing to help out those who need it, wherever they’re at,” Zervopoulos stated.
