On Friday night, Harris County deputies shot at a guy who was wanted for murder in San Marcos. He was then brought into custody in Channelview.
On Friday evening, deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office went to a house on the 1000 block of Deerpass Drive after receiving a contact from the San Marcos police department. The San Marcos police were looking for a suspect in a murder investigation that had taken place earlier that day and wanted to check on the well-being of the people living in the Channelview home.
At first, the deputies did not reach out to anyone, but they arrived at the house 30 minutes later, at 7 p.m. They then saw the suspect in the backyard of a neighbor’s house. The deputies pursued the suspect as he fled.
After spotting what he believed to be a gun, one of the deputies shot his firearm. According to the deputies, the search for the firearm belonging to the suspect is still ongoing.
The defendant then concealed himself in the backyard of another house until a K-9 officer located him and deputies were able to arrest him. According to the deputies, the medical personnel examined the suspect and did not find any gunshot wounds.
The suspect’s identity is Juan Manuel Yanez, according to the San Marcos police. The 47-year-old man was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation that may involve domestic violence.
The HCSO Homicide Unit will investigate the site, and the internal affairs section will also conduct an investigation. According to the deputies, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office will also be responsible for reviewing the case.
