Baby Delivered in Krispy Kreme Parking Lot After Snowstorm Blocks Hospital Roads

A couple from Alabama had a once-in-a-lifetime event when they gave birth to their baby in an odd and unexpected place.

This was all because of a historic winter storm that caused a lot of interruptions. Sha’nya Bennett was traveling to the hospital with her partner, Keon Mitchell, when their kid decided he was ready to be born.

The couple’s journey to the hospital was difficult and dangerous because they had to travel on snowy roads that were cut off.

Earlier in the day, Bennett was at home with their five-year-old son, watching the strong storm pass through the neighborhood.

That was when she began to have contractions. The storm was causing problems rapidly because it was bringing an abnormally significant amount of snow to southern Alabama, which is an area that generally only sees small dustings of snow every few years.

The roads became more and more treacherous as the snow continued to accumulate. As the storm got worse, it became less and less likely that we would arrive at the hospital in time.

When they were close to Flowers Hospital, which was only a mile away, it became obvious that their baby was not going to wait.

Mitchell made a hasty decision to pull into the parking lot of a Krispy Kreme that was close by. With no time to waste, they dialed 911 for aid.

While Bennett remained in the car, he urged Mitchell to hurry up as they waited nervously for assistance.

Bennett remembered telling Mitchell, “Come grab him, come grab him,” as the birth of their second son was about to happen. Just before the first responders came, Dallas showed up in the parking lot.

The couple had planned to get to the hospital, but they were forced to confront the fact that their kid was not going to wait for that to happen. It was a moment that was both dramatic and unexpected for them.

Fortunately, both Bennett and Dallas are doing well and are looking forward to returning home soon.

The family is thankful for the assistance of the first responders that responded at the incident, and they have expressed relief that everything turned out well despite the stress of the situation.

“I really don’t know how I stayed calm because I was really scared,” Mitchell stated about delivering Dallas.

The manager of Krispy Kreme offered the couple a really kind gesture after hearing about the unique delivery that occurred in their parking lot.
