Even high-profile couples have strategies that they use to maintain a healthy relationship.
While walking the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes on Jan. 5, Adam Brody disclosed the secret that assists his marriage with Leighton Meester — and it was supposedly so covert that she didn’t even understand it kept their spark alive.
Access Hollywood asked the pair if they had any secrets to their ten-year marriage when they were walking the red carpet, and it was only natural that the topic of restrooms would come up.
The response that Brody gave was, “We have de facto separate toilets. I go in the office—it’s nice.” In addition to that, this arrangement comes with one more advantage. Place yourself one layer further away from the children. In a playful manner, he remarked, “One layer more deep with privacy.”
In a hilarious turn of events, Meester was completely unaware that this factor contributed to the success of their marriage.
She stated, “I have put no thought into the toilet situation whatsoever. Never crossed my mind.”
Together, Brody and Meester starred in two of the most successful television programs of the late 2000s: The O.C. and Gossip Girl, both of which were produced by Josh Schwartz. Both of these shows were set in the same time period.
On the other hand, they only came into contact with one another on an irregular basis prior to beginning a romantic relationship in 2013 and wed the following year.
There are two children that the couple has together: a daughter named Arlo who is nine years old and a son who is four years old and whose name has not been made public.
One More Secret Regarding Adam and Leighton
In spite of the fact that nobody wants While it is uncomfortable for this celebrity to share a toilet with his wife, he has no problem cooperating with her in front of the camera.
The couple has appeared together in a number of films, including the film The Oranges, which was released in 2011, before they began dating, and the film Life Partners, which was released in 2014, after they had already tied the knot.
While attending the Golden Globes, they communicated their willingness to collaborate even more in the future.
“We always like to work together when it comes up,” Brody stated in a separate interview that took place on the red carpet. Meester added that “it comes up a lot” when any of them secures a new part. He continued by saying, “It is true. Almost everything we do, they’re like, Would your husband or wife want to be in this as well?”

On the other hand, the two individuals mentioned that they had not collaborated since Brody appeared as a guest on Meester’s sitcom Single Parents in the year 2019.
“We should come up with something that we want to do together,” Brody said. Would it be possible for Gossip Girl and The O.C. to do a crossover reunion like that?
The beginning of their family
During the production of their film “The Oranges” in 2012, Brody and Meester were acquainted with one another, and they started dating the following year.
Although they never disclosed that they were engaged, the couple did end up getting married in 2014, which was another piece of information that they kept to themselves at the time.
After a short period of time, the occasional co-stars made the decision to have a family of their own. Meester gave birth to their first child, a daughter whom they named Arlo Day, in the month of August in the year 2015. Despite this, the two did not become more candid after becoming parents.
In the year 2020, Arlo experienced the joy of becoming an older sister when Brody and Meester became parents to a younger son.
The joyful news was disclosed by Brody at the “The Fun Time Boys Game Night Spectacular” that was broadcast on Hold the Phone TV in the same year.

Despite the fact that it was a challenging time for Brody and Meester, the arrival of Baby No. 2 coincided with the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak. This period of time turned out to be a particularly memorable one for them.
“It’s been pretty magical,” Dad stated to People shortly after their son’s birth. “It’s such a crazy time for everyone and we’re so, so, so fortunate that we have some of the security we do and have the flexibility with our jobs we do. We talk about it all the time and we’re just ridiculously fortunate and lucky.”
In the midst of the pandemic, the fact that they were in the “cocoon” of their own family provided them with a positive outlook.
