In order to save a crippled elderly woman who was facing a heavy charge from her town for neglecting to trim her overgrown yard, a Kansas influencer raised almost $793,000.
Last summer, Spencer, a content creator best known for his landscaping company SB Mowing, met homeowner Beth after a town official who had seen his social media videos reached out to him and asked if he could assist with mowing her yard.
He was informed that Beth, who uses a cane to go around her property, had either trim the yard or pay the town $240 to do it for her. This information was not disclosed in the film.
In a video posted on January 10, Beth stated, “I’ve spent a month trying to get someone to come mow. They won’t answer their phones.”
Beth disclosed that a deadline had been set by the local authorities for her to have the yard mowed before she would be liable for the damages.
Beth’s little white cottage was bordered by an untidy lawn that Spencer said was “getting crazy.”
Spencer told her, “I can take care of that for ya,” and offered to do his landscaping for free.
Beth answered, “I can’t believe it that’s great.”
By mowing extremely tall grass, pruning bushes, eliminating trees, and removing grass from driveway cracks, Spencer completely changed her property.
After the major reveal, Beth told Spencer, “I cried on and off just listening to your machine.”
As Beth felt overwhelmed about the gesture, Spencer said that he was glad to be of assistance.
“Your work makes me twinkle so I really appreciate you. I can’t tell you how much. No one’s been happy to help me,” she continued.
In addition to the problems with the yard, Spencer also observed that the house required some modifications in order to accommodate Beth, who was “in desperate need of assistance.”
When Spencer realized that Beth’s ancient steps were difficult for her to walk on and that the cracks in the driveway could cause her to fall, he decided to start a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the repairs.

Within the span of a single day, the proprietor of a small business was able to gather more than half a million dollars to assist her in “gaining accessibility and comfort” on other areas of her land.
The funds that are raised will be used to assist in addressing accessibility challenges that she is experiencing. These concerns include the construction of a new ramp outside, which will make it simpler for her to reach her front door, a smooth driveway, and a chair lift that will enable her to climb and descend steps in order to do her laundry.
In addition, the funds will be used to secure the services of a lawn care business to take care of her yard for the “next few years” because Spencer lives too far away.
When the elderly homeowner got the donation that would change her life, she was completely taken aback.
“I can’t even cry,” Beth stated. “I can’t even think.”
“I never expected help ever, ever, ever. I always help people until I got down and out,” Beth continued.
Spencer disclosed, “We’re gonna be able to do a little bit more than just your driveway and your ramp here.”

Spencer is ensuring that none of the funds raised end up in the wrong hands.
“I am also working with an attorney to set up a trust for her to make sure that all of the funds are protected,” Spencer stated in an update on the GoFundMe page. “I don’t want anybody trying to take advantage of her and I want to make sure that the funds are used properly.”
