The expansion of Amazon’s activities in North Carolina is being accomplished through the establishment of five new facilities, one of which has recently opened its doors in Cabarrus County this past week.
On January Nine, the online marketplace erected a new same-day delivery facility, and it was announced that the facility would be located in Kannapolis.
In addition, the corporation has recently declared that it aims to open four new facilities around the state, three of which would be positioned in the eastern area of the state.
Amazon announced in a statement that the Kannapolis center will allow the retail giant to “fulfill, sort, and deliver orders all from one site, thereby making the entire process of delivering customer packages even faster.”
This is because the delivery of client products will be streamlined.
Additionally, the new facility in Kannapolis will be positioned just across from the one that Amazon presently occupies.
It will be located at the intersection of Davidson Highway and Kannapolis Parkway. The size of the facility, which was 200,000 square feet, resulted in the creation of around one hundred additional jobs.
“We are pleased that Amazon has chosen to open a second location in Kannapolis,” Mayor Darrell Hinnant stated. “Their growing presence in our city is another sign that we are a top location for corporations in the United States. Over the last decade we have worked to create an environment where businesses of all sizes can create their own momentum for success. We look forward to our continued positive relationship with Amazon.”
Future openings are planned to take place in four different places: Jacksonville, Mount Airy, Southern Pines, and Tarboro. These are the locations that will be opened.
“Last-mile” facilities are the places where delivery partners pick up orders and transfer them to the addresses of customers. These facilities will be referred to as “last-mile” facilities.
