DA: 12-Year-Old Found Restrained to Bed, Forced to Eat Cat Food in Shocking Abuse Case

Two women from Pennsylvania were charged with brutally abusing a 12-year-old girl — and the suspected abusers were her mother and grandmother.

Stacey Ann Louder, 52, and Amanda Lynn Gregorio, 35, were apprehended on Monday after an investigation that started in September 2024. Arrest reports acquired by local newspaper The Citizen’s Voice indicate the girl was initially picked up by Luzerne County Children, Youth and Families after being hospitalized for symptoms resembling seizures. While there, Gregorio — the mother of the girl — purportedly confessed to administering the girl 50 mg of Benadryl and 60 mg of melatonin prior to her symptoms starting.

From there, authorities learned more about the girl’s life at home.

According to the arrest reports, the girl’s trip to the hospital sparked concern among the medical professionals who treated her. They suspected abuse based on injuries she had including bruising and scars from being restrained to her bed.

The girl was questioned regarding police restraint, and she informed them that it “hurt” and made her angry. She is also said to have informed police that she had to urinate while restrained in bed, where she spent extended periods of time. The report indicates that Louder and Gregorio placed cameras in the girl’s bedroom to ensure that she did not escape.

The abuse was said to include forcing the girl to consume cat food, which Gregorio admitted to a witness over the phone, officials stated. The witness also added that Gregorio informed her that she did not like binding her daughter, but that Louder — Gregorio’s mother and the victim’s grandmother — was “making” her bind her.

Prosecutors said that the weight of the girl had reduced to 50 lbs.

Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce stated in a release, “The use of this child offends the decency of every mother, grandmother, and otherwise decent person imaginable. Again, the very ones to whom this child would turn to protect her from harm, were her attackers.”

Louder and Gregorio were each charged with aggravated assault of a victim under 13, conspiracy, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another individual, simple assault and tampering with evidence. They were being held on $125,000 cash bail at Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

Both women are scheduled to appear in court on May 6.
