Ryan Rhett Cooper, a La Porte man, is under major allegations pertaining to the distribution and encouragement of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).
Court records state that the case started with a Cyber Tip from the messaging site “KIK,” which claimed 23 files showing illicit content were sent to an account connected to Cooper.
The inquiry turned up pictures of young children being sexually molested among some of the files exhibiting bestiality. Cooper’s connection to the account was confirmed when the IP address used to upload the files could be found back at his house.
Additional investigation of the “KIK” story revealed correspondence between Cooper and another user addressing inappropriate behavior with children. Cooper came clean about using the program to download and view illicit material for personal enjoyment. He also admitted to have deleted the application and files upon viewing them.
Cooper’s confession came from a search warrant carried out at his house; no further unlawful stuff turned up on household items.
Cooper is facing charges of child exploitation; the matter is being handled by the 263rd District Court in Texas.
