A young mother from Tennessee was found guilty by a jury of murdering her 15-month-old daughter and concealing her body in a playhouse on the land that belonged to her family. She could spend the rest of her life in prison as a result of this conviction.
On three counts of first-degree murder, Megan Boswell, age 23, was found guilty by a jury in Sullivan County, New York, in connection with the death of her daughter Evelyn, who reported missing in 2019.
In addition to that, she was found to be responsible for aggravated child abuse as well as aggravated child neglect. She did not testify in the case because she had entered a plea of not guilty.
WJHL reports that the jury deliberated for a little more than four hours after the conclusion of the closing arguments in the trial of Boswell, which took place on Wednesday. Instead of imposing a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, the jury decided to give down a term of life in prison with the possibility of parole on Thursday, according to the outlet.
The last time anyone saw Evelyn was in December of 2019, and her remains were discovered in March of the following year in a playhouse that was located on the property of a family member.
The indictment against Megan for murder was handed down in August of 2020. As a result of the frantic hunt for Evelyn, Megan provided contradicting answers during interviews with a variety of local news media, as was previously reported.
During a press conference held in 2020, the sheriff of Sullivan County, Jeff Cassidy, stated that each time authorities spoke to Evelyn’s mother, “her story changes.”
The testimony of Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Fraley in 2022 purportedly revealed that Megan had lied to authorities about Evelyn’s death, claiming that she had passed away while she was sleeping with another person.
