Sign Up for Louisiana's Fortify Homes Program 1,000 Grants Available Starting Feb. 12

Louisiana’s Fortify Homes Program (LFHP) will begin accepting applications for its upcoming grant round on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 8 a.m., and end on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 5 p.m.

This program provides financial aid to homeowners who want to strengthen their roofs against extreme weather events, such as strong winds, storms, and wind-driven rain, with the goal of making homes in hurricane-prone areas more resilient.

The LFHP was created especially to assist homeowners in upgrading their roofs to satisfy the FORTIFIED Roof Standard set by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).

Homes are better shielded from the destructive impacts of extreme weather by meeting this requirement, which is especially important in regions that frequently suffer hurricanes and tropical storms.

In order to improve safety and lower the chance of property damage during severe storms, the program offers subsidies of up to $10,000 for roof reinforcing.

For homeowners who registered in earlier rounds but were not chosen to participate, this registration time is very crucial. To be eligible for this new grant round, these individuals need to re-register.

1,000 participants are chosen at random from among those who register during the allotted time using a lottery mechanism. Participants will get an email confirming their selection for the program at the end of the lottery registration period.

The lottery for the upcoming grant cycle is open to residents of designated localities. These domains consist of: Anyplace inside the specified Coastal Map Zone; Lake Charles; Sulphur; Westlake

The initiative is designed to help homeowners in these areas who want to fortify their homes against future storms.

These areas were selected because they are susceptible to extreme weather, especially during hurricane season.

Homeowners must first create a profile in the LFHP system before they may register for the lottery. By going to the program’s official website and selecting the “login” button, you can either establish a new profile or access an already-existing one.

For this round, homeowners who have already enrolled for the program and have an existing profile can just utilize it again.

Making homes in high-risk locations more resilient to the region’s regular storms and severe weather is the goal of the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program.

The initiative increases the safety of families residing in high-risk areas and lessens the overall damage caused by hurricanes by giving homeowners financial support.

This project must be successful in order to improve the state’s readiness for upcoming storms, lower long-term expenses, and lessen the effects of natural disasters on Louisiana communities.
