The discovery of a dog that had been lost for almost nine years in St. George, Utah, produced a touching and surprising reunion tale.
Prior to her recent arrival at the St. George Animal Shelter, the dog, who was first reported missing or stolen in Las Vegas in 2016, had been living covertly in a number of households.
During her time in the shelter, the dog’s microchip was checked, which resulted in a number of discoveries that would finally put an end to her protracted voyage.
Before she showed up at the shelter, the St. George Police Department said the dog had been missing since 2016 and her whereabouts were unknown.
Authorities discovered that the dog had lived in several different homes in the years after her abduction, and they were able to track down her original owner after scanning the microchip.
She eventually made her way into a new household in St. George, where she had spent the previous eight years living in secret.
The St. George family was unaware that the lost pet from Las Vegas was actually their cherished dog. Unaware of her relationship to her former owner, they had taken good care of her and treated her like a member of the family.
Both the present family and the dog’s original owner were notified after the microchip identified the canine.
At that point, the two sides reached a consensus and agreed that the dog would stay with the family in St. George, where she had lived most of her life.
To make sure the dog continued to lead a stable and contented existence, it was decided to let her remain with her present family.
The case was an uncommon illustration of how animals can find loving homes after being lost for years. In this instance, despite the uncertainty of the dog’s path to her new home, everyone was delighted that she had found a family who truly cared for her.
As a reminder of the value of microchipping pets, the St. George Police Department posted the tale on their Facebook page.

They advised pet owners to always get their animals scanned at a vet’s office or animal shelter and to make sure their animals are microchipped.
In addition to bringing happiness to the dog and her new family, this reunion demonstrated the need of taking a tiny but crucial step to guarantee that dogs be reunited with their loved ones regardless of how much time has passed.
