An arrest warrant has been issued for Stefan C. Nash, a Texas man suspected of engaging in a fraudulent employment plan to steal thousands of dollars from a job seeker in Missouri.
The Platte County Circuit Court issued the arrest warrant on January 29, 2025, connecting Nash, 29, of Killeen, Texas, to the fraud that preyed on a Missouri resident who believed they had landed a job.
According to Platte County Sheriff’s Office paperwork, Nash is charged with theft and has an arrest warrant with a $25,000 bond.
According to reports, the fraudulent scam started when the victim registered for a job online in early June 2024. The victim received a call from someone posing as a representative of a company shortly after submitting their application, asking them to a job interview.
Following this first conversation, the victim was notified that they had been chosen for the task, and the next step was to purchase certain equipment needed for the work.
A mobile check that was allegedly meant to pay for these essential things was allegedly sent to the victim in order to enable the transaction. But as soon as the victim was told to wire money to a certain account to complete the equipment purchase before the check cleared, things started to fall apart.
The victim sent the wire transfer on May 31, 2024, as instructed, but their bank later informed them that the mobile check had not cleared. The victim was now losing more than $6,000 in total since the check had been deemed invalid.
The victim, distressed by this revelation, called their bank and then informed the local authorities about the fraudulent activities.
Law enforcement identified Nash as the main suspect after looking into the case and tracking down a number of financial transactions.
The hoax was allegedly planned by Nash, a former member of the U.S. Armed Forces, who took advantage of the victim’s confidence.

After assembling a trail of bank transactions, investigators were able to identify Nash’s role in the crime. Authorities formally charged him with stealing when their investigation was finished.
As of February 1, 2025, Nash is still at large and does not appear to have been arrested despite the arrest warrant being issued.

This instance serves as a sobering reminder of the growing frequency of employment-related frauds, especially those that prey on job seekers.
