Hurley, Wisconsin Starting Monday night, lake effect snow is predicted to provide dangerous driving conditions throughout Iron County.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in force from 7 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Duluth National Weather Service, with a probability of 2 to 5 inches of snowfall. Hurley and the Tribal Lands in the northwest region of the Lac du Flambeau Band are among the affected areas.
Forecasters caution that the Tuesday morning commute and overnight travel will be impacted by slick roads and poor visibility. Overnight, the amount of snowfall is predicted to grow, then decrease by Tuesday morning.
Drivers are advised to verify local road conditions by visiting 511wi.gov or phoning 511, slow down, and exercise caution. Even though plows are predicted to run all night, visibility may still be restricted by blowing snow, particularly in open spaces.
This system transitions to more usual late-season snowfall after a somewhat mild early April. Residents around Lake Superior who live in higher elevation areas should be ready for a little more accumulation.
Depending on overnight snowfall and wind conditions Tuesday morning, there may be more snow-related delays or effects on businesses and schools. We’ll provide updates as needed.
