Police: 16-Year-Old Shot and Killed in Baltimore County

Police say a shooting in Baltimore County on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of a 16-year-old.

Around 2:10 p.m., Wilkens Precinct officers were summoned to the 4000 block of Alan Drive in Arbutus, where they discovered the teenager wounded by at least one gunshot. Police say he passed away at the scene.

Budget for Baltimore County

On Friday, Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier put forth a budget proposal of $4.8 billion.

The Baltimore Banner reports that the Fiscal Year 2026 budget calls for no increases in property tax rates, no reductions in critical programs, and a “rainy day” fund of over half a billion dollars to cover unforeseen costs.

The county schools asked the county for over $3 billion. The Banner claims that even if the school system won’t get the whole amount it asked for, it will still get more than it did the previous year.

The Banner reports that the school system will get a significant amount of the county’s budget.

Arrest made after a 17-year-old was shot

For the 2024 murder of 17-year-old Nester Nunez in Reisterstown, an 18-year-old was taken into custody last week.

Mehki Brown has been charged with first-degree murder, according to the police.

On June 9, 2024, Nunez was shot many times in the 200 block of Hammershire Road.

After being shot, a Baltimore County cop is recuperating.

A shooting in the Catonsville parking lot in March injured a Wilkens Precinct police officer.

The alleged shooter entered the station lobby next to UMBC’s campus, according to the police. According to police, the suspect then circled the building before running into an officer at a petrol station.

Then he took out his pistol and shot the cop. Police said there was a gunfight with other policemen.

Gunfire struck a cop who was standing outside his car. According to authorities, the suspected shooter was also injured and sent to a hospital in severe condition.

A few days later, the police officer was discharged from Shock Trauma to complete his recuperation.

Andrew Britt, an elementary school teacher in Baltimore City, was eventually identified as the probable shooter.
