According to the National Nurses United, thousands of registered nurses who are members of the organization will be participating in marches and demonstrations on Thursday. Many of these nurses will be from Northern California.
The NNU is demanding that safe staffing levels and patient safeguards be implemented together with the adoption of artificial intelligence.
They have stated that they “plan to confront industry decisions that undermine patients’ health and well-being and fail to address chronic RN recruitment and retention issues – in favor of increasing profits.”
More than 100,000 members of the National Nurses Union are currently in the process of engaging into contract negotiations.
“We will fight fearlessly against the profit-driven hospital industry, which seeks to undermine nursing care through unconscionable understaffing and reckless automation,” Nancy Hagans, a registered nurse and president of NNU stated.
In addition to required nurse-to-patient ratios, the National Nurses Union (NNU) has proposed the implementation of prevention measures for workplace violence.
The remedies, according to them, will assist in addressing the staffing dilemma that is the hospital.
Kaiser Permanente has been informed of the demonstrations that are taking place in a number of different places throughout Northern California. According to the health care company, this will not have any effect on its operations.
“Kaiser Permanente is empowering nurses with state-of-the-art tools and technologies that support our mission of providing high-quality, affordable health care to best meet our members’ and patients’ needs,” according to a spokesperson’s statement. “We have consistently invested in and embraced technology that enables nurses to work more effectively, resulting in improved patient outcomes and nurse satisfaction, and we will continue to do so.”
Concerns over artificial intelligence (AI) were also addressed in the statement, and it was made clear that AI technologies do not operate independently to make judgments on medical care.
On the other hand, the organization is of the opinion that artificial intelligence has the potential to play a beneficial role in assisting medical professionals and healthcare workers, while also improving the overall experience for members.

The National Nurses United (NNU) has made the announcement that it would be staging marches all around the country in response to these concerns.
These marches will take place in Washington, District of Columbia, Texas, and numerous cities throughout the state of California. The Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center will serve as the starting point for one of the many key events that will take place in Sacramento.
The rally will be attended by nurses and supporters. From eight in the morning to nine in the morning, the march will then make its way to the Methodist Hospital of Sacramento.

The purpose of these marches is to bring attention to the issue and push for improved staffing numbers and patient rights, particularly in light of the growing worries regarding the role that artificial intelligence plays in the healthcare industry.
