Now that the swiftly moving system that brought snow to the Philadelphia area has gone out, the region is experiencing the beginning of the genuine chill.
Following the accumulation of several inches of snow on Sunday night, temperatures are currently falling. Monday saw the arrival of the first of two significant influxes of Arctic air.
There will be plenty of sunlight for your holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and temperatures will be in the middle of the 20s. The wind chills will remain in the teens and single digits throughout the whole day, and despite the fact that the winds are intensifying, it will not feel any warmer this afternoon.
Having said that, a cold weather alert is currently in effect, which indicates that frostbite and hypothermia are considered to be substantial dangers for individuals who spend any significant amount of time outside.
The wind chill advisory has been replaced by a cold weather advisory, which is a brand new product that was issued for the first time in November of this year.
When Monday night arrives, the temperature in the city drops to the single digits, and in some regions outside of the city, it is close to or even below zero.
The peak temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday will barely reach the mid-teens, and the low temperatures across the region will range from minus 2 to 9 degrees.
Even the city of Philadelphia may experience temperatures ranging from negative five to minus ten degrees throughout the morning hours of Wednesday due to the continued surge of Arctic air.
When the wind blows, the wind chill will drop to negative zero, while during the day, the temperature will feel like it is anywhere between 0 and 10.
On Thursday, we will continue to be in the deep frost, but on Friday, we will finally be able to get above freezing for the first time in almost five days.
Temperatures are expected to reach the 40s by Sunday, which will provide us with some relief the following weekend.

The snowstorm that occurred on Sunday brought more than seven inches of snow to the Poconos and the Lehigh Valley, four to six inches of snow to the northwest suburbs, and two to three inches of snow to the city, with quantities that were significantly lower further south.
As a result of the Arctic air’s invasion into the region, the snow will remain for a considerable amount of time. Temperatures will likely remain below freezing until Friday, and wind chills will be below 15 degrees until early Thursday morning.
